£10Following a successful first ever Transplant Sport National Football competition last year, we have decided to run this again. This is designed for transplant recipients who play football. Football is the national game and we know that many transplant recipients play regular football safely and we would like to promote football within the transplant community. We are also aware that many transplant football players have never been to a Transplant Sport event and we would like to encourage them to participate in the future. Hospital or regional teams will be put together according to number of participants.
Who can participate?
This event is open to transplant recipients aged 16 and over.
Fitness testing
A fitness test will take place at 9.30am. Each player will be required to complete a fitness test prior to the competition. This will be a basic fitness test to ensure each player is fit enough to compete. Each player must competently pass the test before they can play in the competition.
Fitness test details
An example of the multi stage fitness test (Bleep test) can be found at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNsVzKt5lPQ
Every player taking the bleep test begins at level 1 where the beeps are 7 seconds apart. For some players, this will mean simply maintaining a fast walking pace to keep in sync’. The test progresses at each level with the sounds getting closer together. This means you will have to gradually increase your speed to keep pace with the beep. To successfully pass the bleep test, you will be required to keep in time with the beeps until four beeps have sounded past level 5. This is what is known as level 5.4.
To pass the bleep test, you must:
-
Run for a total of 3 minutes, 35 seconds
-
Reach the 5.4 level
-
Run for a total distance of 525 metres
-
Hear 35 total beeps
Please note the distance between cones will be 15m.
