Organ transplant
Individual who have received an organ or vascularised composite alllograft from someone else and received immunosuppressants post-transplant.
Living Donors
We have many Living Donors who come along and support at the British Transplant Games. Some come with their transplant recipient. Others are altruistic donors who come along and join the hospital team where they donated their organ.
There are numerous events during the British Transplant Games which are open to living donors including the 5k Donor Run, Golf, Fishing, Basketball, Netball, Football, Soft Cricket and relay races with transplant recipient teams!
Competitors or supporters should not attend any TS event if they have an acute infectious illness or are suffering from a chronic infective process.
Supporters
The Events schedule includes many events open to registered supporters including the Donor Run which takes place each Saturday evening.
Bone Marrow / stem cell recipients
Individuals who have received a bone marrow or stem cell transplant from a donor and are on, or, have been on immunosuppressant’s post-transplant.
Organ Failure post-transplant
Eligibility for participants with a failed organ transplant that is stable on the following supportive therapies:
- Kidney – on dialysis or on the waiting list for a re-graft
- Pancreas – treated with insulin
- Heart – on artificial heart pump or similar mechanical vascular support
- Small bowel – receiving total parenteral nutrition
In all cases of failing transplanted organs participation, will depend on residual capacity and current physical fitness.
Competitors or supporters should not attend any TS event if they have an acute infectious illness or are suffering from a chronic infective process that might affect others or if they have not received appropriate vaccinations
